Extra tax revenues will pay for more police… or will they?

I don’t know how much tax revenues will be generated by changing agricultural/residential zoning into a commercial property. But I do know that the Holmdel Police have been asked to comment on the traffic impact of the development and their answer is that it will not be good. The plans will require many people to make illegal turns to enter the property right where two lanes are merging into one after the parkway bridge. Their preliminary investigation suggests there will be substantial backups and traffic disruption, causing additional policing load. It seems likely that all of this extra policing, caused by the property itself, might cancel out any gains from commercial use taxes.

Large commercial properties are easy to find on RT 35 in Holmdel. Why are we going to let developers spoil residential/agricultural land?
